Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using Visual Lexicon (the “Service”) you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy and Your Privacy Choices. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service. By using the Service, you also represent that you meet the eligibility and minimum age requirements.
The Service
The Service provides a visual vocabulary lookup tool with optional subscription tiers (Free, Basic, Pro). Features may vary by plan and may change from time to time.
Eligibility & minimum age
- Not for children under 13. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and they may not create an account or use the Service.
- Minimum age. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age at which your country allows you to consent to online services without parental permission (often 13–16), you may use the Service only with the verifiable consent of your parent or legal guardian.
- Education use. If you are an educator or institution enabling access for students, you represent and warrant that you have obtained all necessary consents and will comply with applicable student data/child privacy laws. We do not market the Service to children and the Service should not be used by children without appropriate consent and supervision.
- Misuse & removal. If we learn that an account is held by someone who does not meet these requirements, we may delete the account and associated data. If you believe a child has provided us personal information in violation of this section, please contact us at support@visuallexicon.org.
Use without an account
Limited, non-personalized browsing may be available without signing in. In guest mode we use only essential cookies and do not load analytics or advertising tags. Certain features (e.g., saving progress, syncing, subscriptions) require an account and applicable consent.
Accounts & login
- You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- You represent that any registration information you submit is accurate and that you are legally capable of agreeing to these Terms.
- OAuth sign-in (e.g., Google/Facebook) may be offered. We request only basic profile information needed to provide the Service.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our policies.
Subscription & billing
- Free tier — limited daily look-ups.
- Basic/Pro — paid monthly, cancellable any time. Prices and benefits are listed on /pricing and may change on notice.
- Unless stated otherwise, fees are exclusive of taxes. Where required, taxes will be added at checkout.
- Trials, discounts, and refunds are governed by the terms shown at purchase and applicable law.
Intellectual property
All images, text, and code on the Service are owned by Visual Lexicon or its licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works without written permission, except as permitted by law.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or mass-download images or definitions, or circumvent rate limits.
- Reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the Service or its security features.
- Upload or share unlawful, offensive, or infringing content.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms, engage in fraud or abuse, or fail to pay fees when due. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately and we may delete your content as permitted by law and our policies.
Disclaimers & liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Visual Lexicon and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or revenues. Our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (i) the amount you paid to us for the Service in the 12 months prior to the claim, or (ii) USD 50.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except that consumers may have mandatory rights under the laws of their country of residence. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts located in Seoul, Korea.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
